ALAIN MICHARD, La coalition, 2003-2004

Choreographer, born in 1963, lives and works in Ploudier (France).

The Laboratoires assisted the Companie Louma / Alain Michard for two years in the creation of a play called La Coalition. The question of community at work was at the heart of this project. What kind of collective space does work permit? Which utopian society does this correspond to? How can performing arts be related to this, outside of the work schedule and a circle of complicity? Thus, concerning the creation of La Coalition, every artist in the group formed by Alain Michard in the company undertook autonomously the preparation of one or several sequences, some working materials. Afterwards, the results of these preparations were introduced into collective work sessions. During his residence, Alain Michard presented publicly the Centre de documentation, an activation of all the reference material (texts, images, films...) used for the creation of La Coalition. The mobile form of this work traveled in 2004 through the department of Seine- Saint Denis, in partnership with some libraries of the department: Bibliothèque Jules Verne in Pantin, Bibliothèque municipale of Saint- Ouen, the Studio of the dance department at the University Paris -VIII in Saint-Denis. The Centre de documentation was reactivated under other forms at the CNDC in Angers (December 2004), and at the Triangle (Rennes) in January 2005. The third chapter of The Coalition will take place at the National Choreographic Centre of Brittany in January 2005.
