LE JOURNAL DES LABORATOIRES

























The Journal des Laboratoires is an important aspect of the artistic project of this structure. The journal contains texts, published for the first time or translated into French, written by artists, critics, or theoreticians; its role is not to explain the works produced by the Laboratoires, but rather to examine the idea of art which is still problematic and to make it more accessible. This examination, which can not be complete, is composed of a collection of essays, interviews and images that combine works in progress or finished pieces, with other works, other fields, and puts them into historical, philosophical, social and political perspectives.
The Journal des Laboratoires is distributed for free and printed in 5 000 copies; it is distributed in more than a hundred places in France, about thirty places in the department of Seine-Saint-Denis (documentation centers and libraries in art centers, art schools, national choreographic centers, etc…) as well as in the associative and institutional distribution network of Aubervilliers.
The form of the Journal des Laboratoires changes at each issue, as a policy decided by the graphic designers (DeValence) who chose to use this object as a possible experimentation field for their graphic design practice.
