![]() Dominique Petitgand, Notes, voix, entretiens 128 pages / French - English (translations Chet Wiener, Brian Holmes, Charles Penwarden, Florence Bouzinac) / coedition Les Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers, École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, 2002. ISBN : 2-84056-126-3 / Price : 18 euros / Distribution : Paris-Musées / Design : wa75. 34 transcriptions of spoken and musical sound pieces - 2 interviews - 6 listening notes (Dominique A, Grand Magasin, Claude Lévêque, Guillaume Désanges, François Piron, Loïc Touzé). This publication was imagined, not only as a catalog or as an artist’s limited edition, but as a hybrid project, a collection of documents based on the work on sound by artist Dominique Petitgand’s. The book contains a large selection of the artist’s sound pieces, which he transcribed himself; it is structured around two interviews, and completed by “listening notes”, various contributions by artists and critics. The entire book is heterogeneous and exhaustive, presenting different experimental textual approaches to this peculiar sound work, on the borders of music, cinema and art, which Dominique Petitgand has developed since 1992. The idea here is to unfold the work process of an artist, and examine his possible modes of representation, documentation and transcription. |
